These used a Ford 9” rear end and brakes. Between the gshort input driveshaft and the rear end there should be a forward/reverse push/pull shifted gearbox with an output going to the rear end. No idea who made that unit. I have a pristine ‘86 formerly with the Oakland, CA police department. The San Francisco police also used these. Kidman is now out of business but is supposed to have built 100 of these. Like the previous Trident trikes based on the CX500 built in Chicago area in somewhat larger numbers they all had rear swing arm removed and replaced with a welded on hardtail. The box and the seat are spring-mounted. The earlier CX based versions were 5 speed with electric reverse using a starter motor while the VTs from Kosman were 6 speeds with that gearbox between the tranny and the rear end.

Sorry-Kosman not Kidman. Thanks, autocorrect!
