Hi. I hope someone can help me cause if not my trike will be sent to the great scrap yard in the sky. ( Petrol and lighter )
I've got a VW beetle type 1 engine and gearbox in my trike and have replaced the clutch complete with thrust bearing, throw out shaft, new bushes etc.
When I push down on pedal I've got 1/2 inch of play before the bearing meets the pressure plate. When I try to push down any further to engage the gears it feels like I'm pushing against a solid wall then I get a jerk as if the springs on the pressure plate have gone back on themselves. Gears can be engaged but you don't have any feathering when you release the pedal it's just nothing till you get back to the point when it jerks back again then all hell breaks loose and your off down the road or off the back of the seat.
I've changed it from a rod to operate the lever back to the original cable just as VW had but still no joy.
If anyone has any ideas I would be eternally grateful as only been working on this for 6 months and as I've missed bonfire night it may get set fire to on New Years eve as its pissing me off that much.
Thanks.
Dave
